So most of the time I use this blog as a scrapbook to remember what is going on in our lives, or I guess I should say what Ashton and Reese are up to. For one post I am going to write about me. Today is the last day of my twenties and while I am not going to lie, I really have not been looking forward to turning thirty, I started thinking back about my 20s and wanted to recap the past ten years....

20...hello twenty! I met my best friend/future husband and was living with three of my best friends! (1011 bayou woods...Kelly,Jenni and Amanda!)

21...officially legal, yes Casey and I could finally go to Dave and busters as we couldn't before because I was a year shy of 21 and sadly he was a year shy of being old enough to be considered my "legal guardian" for this establishment; got engaged and finished my last semester in College Station

22...big year...landed first job and despite technically working for 5 different companies, I still have the same job for the last eight years; graduated college WHOOP!!; married my best friend; bought our first house

23...celebrated one year anniversary in Las Vegas, welcomed Mr. Spook to our family...love our little white fluffy westie-poo

24...found out I was pregnant...surprised, shocked, scared, elated..total mix of emotions

25...My Golden Birthday...gave birth to my precious son Ashton William and experienced the most incredible kind of love anyone has ever known; learned what it meant to be really tired and how to function on minimal sleep; retired my Honda Civic (actually Casey sucked it up and drove around in it) and got my first SUV...love!

26...sold our first house and bought and moved into our current home, literally one year to the day that we brought Ashton home from the hospital

27...took at long overdue trip to New York to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and found out the morning we left I was pregnant with baby #2

28...lost my Maw-Maw at 89 years old, a month shy of her 90th Birthday; gave birth to our sweet daughter Reese Elizabeth and experienced a whole new love all over again

29...became an AUNT/Godmother to the two most precious baby boys...Cash William and Walker Kevin; found out I was pregnant with baby Lee #3 and learned what morning sickness really was...I only thought I knew from Ashton and Reese, boy was I wrong....

These are just a few of the memories I have from the past 10 years. I have cried a lot, laughed a lot and smiled a ton and made some of the best memories with some of the best friends/family anyone could ask for. So I guess, bring on my thirties...if all of these wonderful things could happen in my twenties I can't wait to see what the future holds...especially come July when I get to meet Baby Lee #3!

Lately Reese has been showing a bit more of her stubborn or maybe I should say independent personality especially when it comes to meal times. I understand kids need to learn to feed themselves and Reese has always done pretty good at this. I normally would feed her about half of her meal (to ensure a good portion went in her mouth) and then would let her feed herself. Meal time has become somewhat frustrating lately as she will not let anyone help her and wants to do everything herself. "I DO! I DO!" is what she tends to say loudly and with quite a bit of intensity. If you do not let her have her way, A) She refuses to eat B) Has a large meltdown. Once you give in, things tend to go better. So a few outfits/baths later and all is well with the world. Here is Reese eating JELLO, if you didn't know better you may think she had the chicken pox. Man, we love this girl!

Happy New Year! I am late on our Christmas post but wanted to make sure I got it in, even if it was in 2012. And I had more pictures but BLOGGER is just not want to cooperate with me today. Here are a few to recap...

Mo and Mimi spent the night with us Christmas Eve so they could be there bright and early (yes we told Ashton at 5 am it was too early and were able to hold him off until 6 am to see what Santa brought)

This year Christmas was a little out of sorts. The pediatrician recommended that the twins hold off meeting their cousins for a couple of months so we did Christmas in shifts. Casey and I went to see Cash and Walker and drop off some gifts

We had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. We were bummed not to get to spend New Years with our Midland family but we know that we will get to celebrate with them soon and it will be great. Best wishes in 2012!!!

Rewind

The past three weeks have been nothing short of a whirlwind. Time has been a biggest gift that seems to precious as it just seems to escape me. In a short/long post I want to recap what has been going on. Three weeks ago today, November 27, to be exact, two miracles happened. The birth of my nephews Cash William Donat and Walker Kevin Donat came rather unexpectedly that day. I got a phone call from my mom around 9:30 am. Was at the hospital by 10:30 am and Cash William was born at 11:11 am weighing in at 4 lbs 10 oz and then his brother came one minute later at 11:12 am weighing 4lbs. These two sweet babies gave their daddy the best Birthday present he could have asked for that day, their arrival. Thankfully the boys are doing well and while I do not have pictures to post (I know, bad aunt) I have gotten to spend many of my lunch breaks visiting the NICU and loving on them. They are both getting bigger and stronger each day and we are continuing to pray for them to come home, hopefully sooner rather than later, as long as they are healthy. They both stole my heart right away and just reminded me again how wonderful God truly is when you see all of his creations.

Fast forward to the following week. Ashton had his first Christmas program at his preschool. I think Ashton had the largest fan club in attendance with his Mo, Mimi, Molly, Grandpa, Nannie Marge, Mommy, Daddy and Reese taking up not one but two pews to see his performance. It was so cute and we laughed and "Ooooed" and "Awwed" at all of the adorable kids and the songs and hand motions they performed.

Then the next day Ashton headed to Midland with Molly and Grandpa for two days to hang out. He had a great time and then we met him along with Molly, Grandpa, G.G., Mema, Uncle Chris, Amber and other cousins to celebrate Ashton and Reese's Great Great Grandma's 100th Birthday!!! This woman is AMAZING and looks incredible. Molly and G.G. had done a great job putting a party together which all of Great Great Grandma's friends came to enjoy. It was a wonderful celebration filled with family and friends and I am so thankful we were there to enjoy it. After a whirlwind weekend we headed back home from San Angelo and have spent the last week trying to get ready for Christmas. I love this time of year and after spending time with family it makes me continue to remember the Reason for the Season. Here are some pictures from the party.

Happy Halloween!

The kids had a blast trick or treating tonight. Ashton made a game time decision and decided to be a Transformer and throw Superman to the side for now. As for Reese, she was the cutest little Reese's Peanut Buttercup that was seen on Halloween. I think he costume was a winner as when most people saw her they scrambled to find a Reese's Cup or Reese's Pieces to give her. She quickly got into Trick or Treating and prefered sticking her hand into people's bowls and hold her pieces of candy rather than putting them in her bag. It was a great night!

Halloween Preview

A little Halloween preview....we had our neighborhood party this weekend and the kids got a chance to put on their costumes before Halloween. Thank goodness because Ashton has been asking everyday if it is Trick or Treat day. This year Ashton decided he wanted to be Superman and I decided Reese would be non other than....a Reese's Candy Bar. Thank you Kathy for making the cutest costume out of a pillow! We had a blast and after the pony rides and petting zoo both kids enjoyed snow cones and playing at the park. We can't wait for tomorrow night!

Field Trip

Today was a great day. I took the day off from work to spend it with Ashton and his class for their first field trip. It was at the Oil Ranch, and yes, we were just there less than a week ago but we actually did different stuff for the most part. Ashton had a great time and it was a perfect weather day to be out in. I had a great time getting to know some of the other mom's and getting to know Ashton's teachers better. He LOVES going to school and had so much fun today.

Ashton and his best friend Brendan. They aren't in the same class on Tuesday/Thursday but still get to see each other every MWF.

Seven

Seven Years....and still going strong. Hard to believe it has been SEVEN years since we said "I Do" to each other. Casey, I love you more each day, if that is even possible. Life is an unbelievable ride that no one can prepare you for. I am so happy to have my best friend with me along the way for all the ups and downs. You still make me laugh and smile more than anyone else can. And to top it off you gave me this:

The two most precious children that are truly the best parts of both you and me. I love you and look forward to 50, 60, 70 more years together! Happy Anniversary!

King of King's Festival

On Thursday at Ashton's school they got to attend the "King of King's Festival." The kids could dress up as princes, knights or princess' and then they got to walked through different booths and participate in various activities. Casey and I surprised Ashton at school when it was his class' turn to go through the festival. His class was adorable all dressed up and they had a great time.

Magic Noodles

I found these "Magic Noodles" at Hobby Lobby and they are awesome! If you are looking for a mess free, inexpensive, indoor, fun activity, check these out. All you need is a damp sponge or papertowel. You dab on end of the noodle on the sponge and stick it to another noodle, and then you can start letting your imagination run wild! Warning: probably need to be 2 1/2 or older as Reese prefers to just rip apart Ashton's creations. The box is huge and they are like $6 (before your 40% coupon if you have one!) Great Christmas gift if you want an idea!

First Haircut

Friday I took the kids to get haircuts, the first for Reese and just one of many for Ashton. Ashton is at the point now where he really needs to have his cut every four weeks. Ugh!! But, it is totally worth it because he looks adorable each time. Reese's hair has really grown in the last few months and while it needed a trim, as you can see from the before picture below, Jenny, our hairdresser said just to leave it at that, a trim. No bangs or bob cut this time, just enough to even things out. Soon enough she will need a really "big girl" haircut, but I can wait longer for that. Even though it was just a trim, she did awesome. After she saw Ashton, the pro, get his done, she was ready to sit there and have her turn. She just kept trying to look back to see what exactly Jenny was doing.

The Next Best Thing...

The greatest joy I have ever known has been being a mother. I couldn't imagine a better gift that God could give me and Casey than being Ashton and Reese's parents. Now, you may ask, what is the next best thing? Becoming an AUNT! And to top it off, to twins! I am over the moon that my sister and brother in law are expecting two sweet babies this December. This weekend I had the honor of helping to host a "Twins and Tapas: Gender Reveal Baby Shower." See for about 8 weeks Mark and Jac have know the sex of the babies but have remained silent and told no one. Check out the pictures below to see how the night went....

It finally happened! I managed to get two teeny tiny pig tails in Ms. Reese's hair. And being the biased mother that I am, I think she is pretty darn cute! She seemed amazed by her new hair do as well as she kept touching them. I was impressed how she managed to leave these in for a few hours compared to her normal bow/clips that last all of 5 seconds. Oh I love this but it kills me to think my baby girl is getting so big already!

1st Day of School

Ashton had his first day at his new school this week and he was super excited to go. We went to meet the teacher last weekend and then we had to wait until Thursday rolled around to finally get to go. Well it came, and I cried, but he didn't so that is a successful day in the least! Casey told me I will probably cry each year from here on out until he is a grown man. (I couldn't argue) I was super anxious to pick him up that afternoon and he said he had a great day. Only downfall, he ate his apples and string cheese but decided to forgo all his other lunch/snacks. Oh well! Hope this is a great year ahead!

PS: On Monday he managed to slip and fall outside on the concrete and gave himself a nice cut on his eye....I guess it made him look tougher on his first day!

Happy 14 Month Birthday sweet girl! This month you went from a baby to a full blown toddler who is into everything. You still have a sweet misdemeanour but there is definetely a mischevious side to you too! You love to undo stuff...folded laundry, toys that have been put away, open drawers and empty them. It is always pretty easy to see where you have been, hurrican Irene has nothing on you! You are doing better as a whole with your sleep, yet lately you like to have a 1 am call that tends to wake up your brother as well which can make for a rough night for mommy and daddy. You have also started to become a bit picky on eating. You still like fruit (bananas, strawberries, canteloupe, watermelon, grapes and apple) but depending on the day you won't necessarily eat any of those. Veggies you are becoming a bit picky on as well, you will eat peas but tend to turn your nose up to most of the others now. When it comes to mobility you are a walker by choice now. Occassionally you will drop to your knees but you are doing awesome with walking, which leads to your newest hobby....climbing. On the fireplace, on chairs, on the stool but your favorite place....your brother's bed! You are so proud of yourself each time you do it that you sit there with a huge grin on your face. And lastly, you still love one person more than anyone else, YOURSELF! You will sit forever looking at pictures and will flip until you find yourself and then smile that huge grin. Oh Reese, we love you to pieces!

To celebrate your 14 month Birthday you got some new boots, and you loved wearing them around! Now if we could just get some cooler weather so you can wear them out.

The Newest Addition

If the title of this post made you think baby, think again. We have talked for a while about adding onto our house and our options were pretty limited. Up was about the only way we could go, so we decided to go up over the garage. A few months back we had an architect draw up some plans for the addition and then about 4 weeks ago we started the project. I am hopeful that we are half way there because there are a few things I am ready to get rid of...hence the Portapotty on my driveway.

13 Months

Happy 13 Months Ms. Reese! You are turning into a little spitfire on the move! You have officially started taking multiple steps and are on the cusp of walking as your main mode of transportation. If you put your mind to it you can walk everywhere you want to go, but still prefer to crawl to get there faster. You have developed a major love for fruit these days and constantly want to share with mommy....strawberries, honeydew, cherries (pit removed of course!) and cantelope are your favorites right now. You also are starting to like broccoli which I LOVE! And just this week we seem to be finding a better sleep schedule, I know, it only took a year. We will take what we can get around here. And last but not least, you love pictures...mainly of yourself. I know I mentioned this before but I can't describe how excited you get when you see yourself in a photo. You point and just light up. We love you to pieces Ms. Reese and those blue eyes just melt everyone's heart!

Warning: This is gross, but that is part of parenting, so if you don't want to read then stop here.

Saturday my sister called and said she was going to head to the outlet malls and wanted to know if I wanted to join. I mentioned it to the hubs and he was game so we loaded up the kids and were on our way. I was driving and Casey and I were talking while the kids were laughing in the back. Next thing I know we hear Reese make a lovely grunting sound and I smiled to Casey and said, I guess I will be changing her when we get there. It wasn't a minute later when Ashton said "Eww, nasty Reesey!" Casey turned his head around and then sternly said, "Pull Over Now!" Needless to say Reese had stuck her hand in her diaper and pulled out a handleful of, well I am sure you guessed it, poop. I pulled into a church parking lot and Casey began to wipe off what we could while I changed her diaper. At this point it was evident that this wasn't a keep on going on with our day kinda thing, but instead a total detour was need. I turned around and we headed home. Thankfully we got a good laugh to say the least.

Bye Bye Tonsils

So here is a little recap of the happenings....as posted before Ashton turned 4 last Friday and Casey and I gave him a bike. He LOVES it and has been playing outside with that, new soccer goal, tennis racket and has been a fish in the swimming pool...fast forward. Today, he had his tonsils and adenoids removed. Since Ashton was born he has constantly snored, been congested, been a mouth breather and has a few other issues. After consulting with various doctors we decided this was the best course of action for Ashton. So this morning, Casey and I took Ashton to see Dr. Albright with Texas Children's Hospital at 5:45 this morning. The procedure took about a half an hour and despite the groggy/grouchiness he had when he woke up (the doctor told us that would happen, but I don't think I really was prepared for that), he did great. It took about thirty minutes of trying to calm him and soothe him. It is so hard to try and explain to a child (who is still under some anesthesia) why they can't take an IV out even though it hurts. Luckily we were released soon after and were back home by 9:30. The doctor told us, contrary to belief, to let Ashton dictate his diet for the next week or so. His words "if he wants popsicles, give him popsicles. If he wants chips, give him chips. He will decide what works best for him and if doesnt seem bothered by foods, then let him enjoy them." I was thinking jell-o, pudding, milkshakes, popsicles, etc. would be what Ashton wants. So on the way home we got him a shake, which he didn't touch. He asked for a popsicle when we got home and then it started. Since he had not eaten since 6 PM the night before he was hungry....and what did he want? Cheetos! He sat there and ate a cup full and when I asked if his throat hurt, he said "Nope." He is now fast asleep on the couch. All I can say is thank you God for a good surgery and I just continue to pray for a speedy recovery, but if this is any indication....we are well on our way.

Happy Birthday sweet boy! It is hard for me to believe you are 4 years old! You are quite the little man to say the least. You have a large personality and provide quite a bit of comic relief to all of the people who love you. I remember the days when you were so small and needed Daddy and Mommy to help you do everything, now you are Mr. Independent. You are a man's man to say the least. If you had a choice, the sun would never go "to sleep" and you would stay outside, most likely in the swimming pool, all day long. You love getting dirty and hate taking baths, go figure. But there are a few things you enjoy doing with Mommy...baking cookies! You are the perfect assistance who likes to have his own dough, roll it out, and then if it is not quite perfect, does what any perfectionist will do, eat the mistake! Speaking of eating, your palate is rather limited. If we let you survive on "popsicles" (Gogurts) you would be a happy kid. It is like pulling teeth to get you to try anything new. You tend to be a bit hard headed for stuff like this. I like to call you the negotiator because when I ask you to do something , you tend to respond with "How's about...." and then you fill in the blanks with an answer that works best for you. It is something that cracks me up but makes it hard to reason with you with a smile on my face. Ashton, you are the best big brother Reese could ask for. You constantly want to interact with her and she loves to follow you around. She thinks you are pretty cool. In this past year you have really blossomed. Last year you really weren't talking a whole lot, now the things that come out of your mouth make us ask "where did you hear that?" We love you so much and look forward to many more moments!

PS: We spent your 4th Birthday at Kilburn's...yes it is a tavern, but they sell Mac N Cheese (one of your food staples) and you got to take your picture with the Miller Lite Girls, many years from now you might think your Mommy is cool for picking this place and letting you do that. Then we went to Orange Leaf to get frozen yogurt and to top it off, your sweet friend Luci Ruffing was right there by your side!

Itty Bitty Bikini

A big thanks to Luci Ruffing for passing down an adorable little bikini to Reese. As soon as I got it on her she kept trying to take her top off. Aunt Jac was in the background providing commentary shouting "Party like it's Spring Break '99!" I am not quite ready to hear about my child flashing anyone, but I have to admit, this is one cute little swimsuit.

Mimi Donuts

This holiday weekend we spent it at the lake. It was very relaxing, and HOT to say the least. We had a blast. I think if you ask Ashton what his favorite part was, he would probably say "Making Mimi Donuts." My Mom introduced us to "Mimi Donuts" around Christmas last year and these have become something that Ashton LOVES making and eating more. I think if I said he could eat the whole pan (one batch makes 8) he would polish them off in a heartbeat. Mimi asks if I have made them with him, but I like to tell her that honor is reserved for her and Ashton, and since they made them 3 times this weekend I think he got his fill. Thankfully Ms. Reese was close by to observe and then enjoy the results. Happy 4th!

Breakfast Birthday Bash Recap

We had the best time this morning; today we hosted a joint Birthday party for Ashton and Reese...a Breakfast Birthday Bash! The party was in the morning and the kids came over in their PJs to eat donuts, pancakes and to be entertained by Honey Dew the Clown. Honey Dew was fantastic and made balloon animals and painted faces for all of the kids. It was such a great party and Ashton and Reese loved it. Well to be honest, Ashton was in heaven, and Reese slept for probably half of it, but she didn't cry which was a shocker AND she went let other people hold her (family members for the most part) but this was a big change. My sister and Kathy (mother in law) were AWESOME photographers and captured some great moments. Check them out in the two posts below.

Happy 1st Birthday Reese

Oh baby girl! Where did the time go? I remember waking up feeling those contractions knowing life was going to change forever shortly; however, I could have never imaged how wonderful this past year could be. You are truly a gift from God that has been given to me and your Daddy and your brother and all of the family. You have an infectious smile, when you chose to show it, and are my little snuggle bug. Here are a few things I want to remember:

-Size: 6-18 month clothes, depending on the brand; size 2 diapers....right on track. I think you are around 19 lbs and change (we go to the doctor this week) so stats to come

-Eating: You like your food! You are still nursing in the morning and at night but we are going to start weaning. You are fickle when it comes to milk, but that is a work in progress. You like most veggies and some fruit. You are willing to try new foods (unlike your brother), but when you are done, you lock your lips together, do the hand motions for "all done" and then will push away the spoon. If there is food on your tray and you are done you will then look at me sweetly and procede to drop pieces off the side all while still looking at me. You have 5 1/2 teeth, the 1/2 is coming through on the top (2.5 top, 3 bottom).

Activity: You are a mover and a shaker. You are enjoying walkers right now, especially the ones you can push and walk behind. You still walking around all furniture and will stand freely. I really believe it won't be long now until you are off.

Extras: You are a serious little one and have a case of stranger danger. You prefer your mommy and daddy (which we don't mind) and then after that you tend to size up your choices and will stick with one person. You tend to stare people down until you are sure of them. You still ADORE your brother and will say "Aaa, Aaa" which we think is for Ashton. You follow him around as much as he lets you. You love seeing yourself in the mirror and have gotten a fascination with playing with mommy and daddy's shoes. You also like to see pictures of yourself and will even try to kiss them!

Reese, you are such a joy. You have made our family a stronger and better unit. We can not wait to watch you grow, but just ask that you slow it down. This past year went by way too fast and with each day that pass and I hold you I can feel my sweet baby growing into a toddler and then into a little person, and I don't want to think about the rest. We love you so much and wish you the happiest of Birthdays!

Today is Reese's Birthday Eve so Ashton and I decided it was time to make some cupcakes to send to school with the kiddos. Ashton was right there to mix, pour, bake, decorate and of course, sample. Happy Birthday Eve Ms. Reese. We love you so much!

Eleven Months!? Where and When did all of this happen? I can't believe in one month I will be wishing my sweet baby a happy 1st Birthday. Bittersweet to say the least. So once again, I will try and recap this month in a nutshell.

Basics:
Sleeping...you are doing a bit better, but still can't seem to make it all the way through the night without a hug from Mommy or Daddy. You are a cuddle bug and really like to lay next to one of us or on top, depending on the night. This is improved mainly because for a little while you were getting up a few times during the night which is a total killer on Mommy and Daddy.

Eating...you are trying a few new things. Your favorites are yogurt by far and thanks to your brother, popsicles. He likes to share his, which is so sweet, but you now want them and throw major tantrums if he has one and you do not. You love bananas and gerber puffs. I will say you like peas, grilled cheese, mac n cheese, rolls, cheerios, pureed fruits, and applesauce. You are starting to turn your nose to sweet potatoes which used to be a favorite (your brother did the same thing).

Clothes/Diapers: You are wearing 6-12 mo clothing and size 3 diapers. Some six month stuff fights perfect and then some 12 months is great too. All depends on the brand I guess. You really have filled out and have a rather plump, yet adorable belly if I might say so myself.

Activities, Etc....You are a free standing girl these days. You love to pull yourself up even or just go from kneeling to standing without grabbing onto stuff and then stand there for a good minute or two. It won't be long now before you take those first precious steps and then breakout into a full sprint I am sure. You have started giving kisses! I will give you kisses and make the noises and you try to do it back to me which melts my heart. You will then go in with open mouth and tongue to get more, so gross but so cute all at the same time. Just in the last few days you have started to point when you see people. You point at them and smile and then get so excited when they point back at you. I am loving all of this. You have also started mimicing a few other things or should I say person, your brother. When he screams, you scream. When he starts crying, you start crying, right on cue. This is too much at times for mommy and daddy. When we catch you doing something you know you shouldn't you freeze and then turn and smile at us as if you are saying "Come on, are you really going to get mad at someone with these dimples?" You are going to give us a run for our money.

Reese, we love you more and more each day. You make us laugh so much, especially when you and Ashton play off of each other. You have developed a great personality in your short life so far and we can't wait to see you grow. We love you Reesy Peesy!

Surprise Grandpa!

Happy Birthday Grandpa! On Friday Casey and I flew out with the kids to Midland to surprise Grandpa for his Birthday. Molly (Casey's mom) picked us up at the airport on Friday afternoon and we drove straight to Grandpa's office to surprise him. I think he was pretty excited to see us and even shed a few tears of happiness when he saw Ashton run into the room saying "Happy Birthday Grandpa!" We had a nice, but short visit in Midland. Unfortunately I did not do a great job of taking pictures. I had a stomach bug for the entire trip so I wasn't really on my game in terms of capturing all of the weekend activities. It was a fantastic trip. Happy Birthday Hal!

A Happy Mother's Day

It was a perfect Mother's Day. Unfortunately I don't have a recent picture of my mom on this post, but am so thankful to have her as my mom. She has taught me to be the woman and Mother I am....and now, as a mom, I catch myself saying/doing things that I sore up and down I wouldn't do, but it is true--I am my mother's daughter and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am so thankful for a wonderful husband who gave me the most precious gift ever, the opportunity to be a mom to Ashton and Reese, two of God's most amazing creations. I had a fantastic day and loved my edible bouquet!

Happy Easter...a little late

We had a great Easter weekend. We started Friday with our annual crawfish boil that we have been doing on Good Friday for many years now. I was so happy my two aunts came in from New Orleans to spend the holiday weekend with us. Sunday we attended early mass then went to Mo and Mimi's for breakfast and to see what the Bunny had brought. We then came home to see what the bunny had left there and then to Aunt Jac and Uncle Marks house because apparently the Easter Bunny thought Ashton and Reese needed to be taken care of yet again. They both made out like bandits. It was a great weekend. Here are just a few pictures with more to come! (Sadly, that is the best "family" picture we could get...its the thought that counts right???)

10 Months Old

Oh Reese! And we are now into the two digit month numbers, completely bittersweet. What can I say? You are something else! Here are some things I want to remember:

-You are one inquisitive little girl! If you were in a contest you would easily win a stare off because you do just that, stare and someone/something new with your piercing, but beautiful BIG blue eyes!

-Talking...I think you get this from me, you like to hear yourself talk and say, "Momma, Dadda, Bye-Bye and No" the first two are constants, the others you have said only a couple of times.

-Eating...you dropped another feeding this month and are down to one bottle a day, and then eating with mom in the morning and at night. You still like pureed food but have started trying new things and I am happy to say you like Turkey and Grilled Cheese sandwichs. I still have high hopes that you won't be as picky as your brother

-Mobility...You are one fast crawler and as soon as you get to your destination you quickly figure out how to pull yourself up and then like to stand there with one arm on and the other off. You have stood by yourself a few times and right now I feel like those first steps will be taken before you turn one, but I am not sure if you will be completely walking by then. I am in no rush for that though!

Personality..You are a DRAMA QUEEN! Man do you like attention! You could have a tray full of food but will cry out if someone is not directly in front of you talking to you. Once you have gotten your way you smile, and go back to eating and being happy. You have the heartiest laugh! I love to hear that belly laugh that comes out when you are being tickled (you are extremely ticklish) or when you see something you like.

Sleeping...You do take naps, thank goodness, but the rest of the night time has a lot to be desired. Why oh why do my children not like to sleep??? Your daddy and I both really enjoy sleeping but apparently we did not pass this trait.

Extras...You have started to clap your hands and even dance a little. When music comes on and you are crawling you will stop what you are doing and do a little booty shake which is so cute! Or you will sit yourself up and shake your head with the music. You LOVE to turn the lights on and off. You will hit the light switch with an open hand and then your face lights up so bright when you succeed turning it on/off. Another unbecoming trait of yours, you like to slap/bite mommy and only mommy! You have gotten my face and shoulders numerous times and when I firmly tell you NO, you look at me and then giggle. I can already tell you are going to be a little piece of work.

Reese, we continue to praise God for choosing your Daddy and I to be your protectors and guides here on Earth. Whoever said that once you have kids it is like taking a piece of your heart and watching it walk around you on the outside had it right. You and your brother are the light of our lives and we love you dearly. We can't wait for the next month and all of the adventures to come!

April Catch Up

These past few weeks have completely flown by. It feels like the weekends are in fast forward and are done before we know it. Last weekend we went to the zoo and got to see all the animals, Ashton got his arm painted (wasn't into the idea of having his face painted) and rode the carousel. Sunday we went to the neighborhood Easter Party. Then Mema and Molly came to visit which I was SO thankful for, as Casey had to go out of town for work from Sunday - Wednesday. I was so appreciative to have the extra hands and help around and Ashton and Reese were in heaven. When I went to pick up Ashton from school on Wednesday he cried the whole way home saying he wanted to go to the airport. I was trying to explain to him that his Daddy was at home now and not at the airport, and his response "No, I want to go to Molly's house!" As you can tell, he was sad to see his Grandma's go home. Guess they need to come back soon! This weekend we had a crawfish boil Friday night, a much needed haircut and then Ashton got to go to a carnival with Mimi. Meanwhile Ms. Reese has been getting into EVERYTHING! Since my last post her vocabulary has expanded, "Dada Dada Dada" is heard quite often with the "Momma Momma Momma," and just this weekend she said once "No No." She won't say it on cue, but she will shake her head to tell you "No No," and then smiles so cutely when she does it. Anyways, I will leave you with a few pictures.

Music to My Ears and then some...

It's official, our first word "Momma." She has been babbling for a while now saying MMMmmommaa, DDDaddadaa, but this week she started saying "momma" to me and I can't be more in love. So happy! We went to the doctor for her 9 month check up on Tuesday and the stats are as follows:

Height: 27 1/2 inches (45%)

Weight : 18 lbs 6 oz (39%)

She is a little small, but perfect none the less. I was happy to report that her ears checked out fine, but unfortunately lil' miss has not been herself since yesterday and I hate to think another ear infection is creeping up. Who knows, but we will be watching her. So far a few other things in a recap, we packed up and headed to the lake this weekend after work on Friday. My parents, Casey, the kids and I had a great time on Friday night and Saturday, until around 7 PM. Reese had gone down for a catnap around 6 and woke up around 7 just not happy. She started crying and would not stop. I feel like by now I know her cries and this one was one of pain. It was so bad and she was inconsolable. Casey and I quickly packed up a few things and got in the car prepared to go to the ER in College Station because something just seemed so wrong. My parents finished packing up and left an hour after us with Ashton. I tried to console her in the back of the car and when we made it to College Station she was sleeping so we decided to push on home. We got in a little after 11 PM and I put her in bed next to me. It was an off and on night with her but she did sleep. This morning she was crawling around just happy as could be with nothing but a runny nose. So, maybe I overreacted but the baby I was holding last night was not my "normal" little girl. I still don't know what was wrong, ears? gas? stomach ache? So as I said before we are watching her for now and hoping a trip to the doctor is not in the near future.

As a side note, she did get her first split lip on Friday. She has learned to pull herself up, and she did just that, only to come crashing down and bit her little lip which caused a nice amount of blood. Thankfully she seemed fine after a few minutes. Ashton had a great time riding on the four wheeler, mowing the grass with Mo and making "Mimi Donuts." He is a total ham who makes us want to hug him one minute and pull our hair out the next but we wouldn't trade any of this for the world. I leave you with some pictures.

9 Months Old

Nine Months! 3/4 of a year...WOW! I'll say it again, time just flies by faster and faster. Well Ms. Reese, I write this blog mainly so I won't forget special times and moments is our family's lives and this is what I want to remember about you now:

Eating: We are down to two 6 oz bottles a day at the baby sitter and still nursing in the morning, at night and exclusively on the weekends. I am still pumping at work for now. You are eating a fruit for breakfast usually with something else. We are "experimenting" with new foods but as you can tell in my previous post you are a bit resistant to change. I tried toast with butter today and that seemed to make you happy, at least for a couple bites....baby steps. For lunch you LOVE SOUP...split pea, black bean, tomato, roasted red pepper, etc...you just love the stuff! Baby Yogurt is also a big hit with you and you still enjoy pureed veggies and fruits. You also LOVE Gerber Puffs! Dinner is pretty much the same as lunch and hopefully the rotation of food will grow over time. Fingers crossed!

Sleeping: Still working on this. We havedealt with cutting teeth (you have your bottom two fully in but the top two are about half way there) and a double ear infection this month that hasn't really helped us. There are many nights (probably more than less) where you end up right next to me in my bed for two reasons...I don't want to risk waking you and I am too tired to move you at that point. Someday this will get better, just not sure when. You do take about 2 naps a day but they are short lived...30-45 min usually suits you just fine. Your babysitter tells me you just don't want to miss anything so you prefer to stay awake. Usually you are pretty happy but I can tell quickly when you get tired because you become fussy on the spot and you are ready to go down.

On the Move: You learned to crawl and now there is no stopping you. Litterally overnight you went from about two scoots at a time to going non-stop. The day after you "mastered" crawling you started pulling yourself onto your knees and are slowing working to pulling yourself up completely. You are Trouble with a Capital "T" when you crawling because you usually have two destinations...Spook's gate or Spook's water bowl, both of course are No No's. When you make it to one and you hear me say "No Reese" you turn, look at me and then smile this HUGE smile as if you are saying "Are you really going to say no to THIS face?" Your daddy and I can tell you are going to give us a run for our money in the years to come.

Size: Your official stats I will have to update on later. We go to the doctor for your 9 month check up this week. Clothing wise you are in 6-12 month clothing. You still are in size 2 diapers but I think this is the last box of those we will use. I think you are pretty petite, but that is just my guess. Speaking of diapers, now that you are on the move changing your diaper is an adventure. You wiggle and worm so much we are done with the changing table and I have resorted to the floor on a towel or a rug because you move way too much.

Personality: You are such a happy girl. I say that all the time but sometimes it is becoming harder to "prove" it. You have really started having some serious separation anxiety and "stranger danger" issues. Thankfully after a weekend at the lake you seem to have gotten past your problems with Mo because for a few weeks whenever my dad would come over you would just look at him and cry. I think yall just needed to bond a little which you did. But with other less familiar faces you tend to stick out your lip and it starts to quiver and then you cry, afraid we may leave you. Thankfully you don't do this with your baby sitter. You are a very curious little girl and try to get your hands on anything you can and once it is in your hands the next stop is your mouth. Your other "favorite" thing: computers! As I type this you are pulling up on my legs trying to get to my laptop. We witnessed your first tantrum when I was using the IPAD and you went to reach for it as I put it away. You turned and looked at me and then screamed a very angry scream. It was short lived but it was obvious it was because you didn't get your way. One of my favorite "new" moves you do is lifting your arms to me or daddy when you want us to pick you up. It is so sweet and I love when you do it because you are usually smiling at us with those arms raised.

Reese, your Daddy, Big Brother and I adore you. Even Mr. Spook is starting to warm up to you and has even allowed you to pet him once or twice even though he would probably deny it. You and Ashton make life more interesting and my heart skip a beat each time I look at you both. We love you so much!

Food & Frustration

What's for dinner?? That is a daily question around our house. And some days the answer comes easier than others it can be a challenge. Ashton's eating habits can be somewhat frustrating to say the least. To call Ashton stubborn might be a slight understatement. Deep down I know if he would just try some new foods he may really like them such as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or grilled cheese, or grilled/baked chicken! These foods are not "out there" but are normal "kid friendly" foods that my child won't even try. So while we still try and get him to try something, and sometimes using reverse psychology helps, most of the time not, we tend to resort to our go to foods....mac n' cheese, spaghetti o's, chicken nuggets and breakfast for dinner.....so after this experience I am even more determined to get Reese to try new foods and hopefully like them. Well let the frustration begin! I have always made my own baby food and to start with she was a pretty easy eater and still is when it comes to pureed veggies and fruits. She is at the stage now where she likes to feed herself finger foods and does a great job. So I decided to slowly start to introduce new foods, and sadly I haven't found many she likes. Soup....tomato, black bean, roasted red pepper, split pea...all of these she likes which is great. She likes yogurt and the Gerber Puffs too. But no luck with pasta (spaghetti, tortellini, egg noodles), boiled eggs, toast plain, toast with butter, toast with jelly, plain bagels, grilled cheese, sliced cheese, waffles, pancakes (she ate a few pieces once). I know she is young and her taste buds will change, but I want to find some new things to add to the rotation. So any friends out there...please give me your suggestions because my brain is racked with no good answers!

Soccer Sunday

We spent an hour or so at a nearby park and let Ashton play soccer against Mommy and Daddy while lil' sister looked on. It was a gorgeous day to be outside and Ashton had a blast. It's days like this that make the best memories. Thankfully, Reese is finally starting to feel better after spending Friday with Mimi and then going to the doctor to find out she had a double ear infection. :( Hopefully we are on the mend. Picture overload!

Sunday at the Park

We had a great weekend at the lake with Mo, Mimi, Aunt Jac and "Capt. Mark" as Ashton would say. The last time we had been up there Reese was just 6 weeks old, so it was a long overdue trip. We are hoping to get up there more often. I did take some pictures but those are on my other camera. As soon as Ashton walked in the door he was ready to go to the park, so that is where we went. We tried to get Reese to swing but I think she is still a bit small for the swings so she had to settle for watching big bro for now. With the time change today we are enjoying this extra hour of daylight, but I am sure waking up tomorrow morning will not be fun, oh well...hopefully we will all get adjusted soon.

I Found a Pen!

Today was a typical Saturday filled with the usual weekend activities. I did a little, ok, a LOT of laundry and then went on my weekly outing to H.E.B. This week Ashton decided to join me at the grocery. He was sitting in the front of the cart, guarding my purse, when he decided to start going through it. He managed to open my wallet, pull out all sorts of cards in there and would ask his usual "what's this?" question he constantly asks these days. I was a bit distracted to say the least as I was trying to make sure I was getting everything on the list while trying not to run into the other hundreds of people in the store (it is always a zoo on the weekends!). Next thing you know Ashton says "Hey I found a pen!" I didn't turn and look immediately but then when I did I realized he was not waving a pen around in the air, instead it was a tampon! I tried to take it away and he proceded to scream, "I need my pen! I want my pen!" I tried to explain to him that was not a pen and started to dig in my black hole (purse) until I found a pen to replace his other "pen." The looks of the other customers were quite interesting as the men just tried to look away while all the women seemed to laugh to themselves or smile. Just a typical day with Ashton these days...you never know what is going to happen. Man I love this kid!

Eight Months!

Time just flies. That is all I can say. Eight Months Old TODAY! Oh it is so bittersweet. Reese you are such a joy, and a delight. You and your brother bring so much happiness to both your Daddy and I's lives. Neither of us could ever imagine experiencing this kind of love. There are a few things I want to remember from this month so when I look back in a year or two or twenty I will know just what was going on with you.

Eating: LOVE to eat! You have cut down to 3 bottles a day and still nursing at night and in the morning. You love sweet potatoes, banana, pineapple, blueberries, corn, apples, peas, tomato soup, split pea soup, black bean soup. We just tried yogurt this week with a mixed reaction. You seem to have found it a bit tart but then wanted more...too funny. You also love all of the Gerber snacks...puffs, yogurt bites, cookies, teething crackers. I also have let you naw on a piece of french bread which you seemed to really enjoy. You have also started to feed yourself a little. You love to put the snacks in your hands and about every one out of ten you will put in your month....the rest you just hold onto so tight in your fist (almost afraid that someone will take it away from you) that I have to pry your hand open when we are done with the meal. I can't wait to see what you will do next!

Moving: While you aren't officially crawling, you can make it anywhere you want to. You somehow go backwards or will spin yourself around and then inch backwards. There is no stopping you. You will still rock in the push up position looking like you are about to start crawling but then belly flop and just roll or scoot to your destination.

Activities: You LOVE your johnny jumper still. This Christmas gift was one of the best. You jump so hard, you have fallen asleep in it about 3 times standing up...too funny. You still like your exersaucers and enjoy having Ashton chase you around in the one. He makes you laugh so hard each time, especially when he sneaks up on you. We just pulled down the walker and on the first day you cried in it, but then when you realized you could get to other places in it, there was no stopping you. You now can explore so many more places....but just like your scooting, you somehow tend to go backwards in your walker too.

Sleeping: This is a struggle. Your daddy and I have been seeing way too many AM hours than we want to. You used to be such a champ, and I am not sure what has happened lately. Luckily you aren't mad usually when you wake up, but instead seem to want to play. We will keep working on this, because we all could use a little more sleep in this house.

Size: When we went to the doctor earlier this month you weighed in at 16 lbs 2 oz. I am not sure where that falls in terms of percentage but I think you are still a little small, but definetely filling out more. You can still fit in some 3-6 month clothing, but are most comfortable in 6-9 months. Pants seem to be a bit big on you for the 6-9 months. Diapers...size 2 and have been there a while. I am guessing you haven't gotten to much taller, but next month we will see.

Extras: You seem to be having a bit of separation anxiety. When Daddy or I leave the room you have a slight meltdown. You sometimes will warm up after about 10 minutes or so of being around someone, but do not go as freely to other people as you used to. You have started to "wave" a little. Your arm kinda just flaps around but you get pretty excited when you do it.

Reese, you are just a ray of sunshine. Your daddy, brother and I are loving to watch you grow and form your personality. You really like to hear yourself and can you shriek with joy. You have such a belly laugh which is contagious. Your sweet smile and gorgeous eyes melt my heart every time you look at me. I love you so much! Happy Eight Months!

New Face

So this is the face I am used to seeing....

but Ms. Reese has decided this is the one she likes to show off now. She has started doing this in between eating bites of food. I have heard that I made a similar face when I was a baby, so I guess, like mother like daughter....I think it is kinda cute though, especially the little "huffing" sound she makes when doing it.

How is that for an equation? Four eyes, four ears, two kids...and 3 out of the 4 eyes had pink eye and 3 out of the 4 ears had an ear infection! So Tuesday evening Casey had a dinner to go to and I noticed Reese's eyes starting to get that "junk" in them. Next thing you know Ashton's right eye started to look pink. I sent Casey a text saying I wouldn't be surprised if Ashton woke up with pink eye, sure enough he did. Casey was an awesome dad and took both kiddos to the doctor (yes don't forget we were there the week before getting Ashton medicine for an ear infection.) Results, both kids had pink eye and ear infections. Reese had it in both eyes and both ears, Ashton had it in one eye and still had his ear infection. So they headed home to stay inside and try not to spread the lovely germs. Thursday morning the kids looked a lot better but still had that "glassy" look to their eyes so I stayed home with them (that would be day 2 inside the house). Then the ice storm...no work on Friday or school for the kids, but another day inside the house. Thankfully Mimi called Friday night and asked if Ashton wanted to spend the night...so thankful because Cabin Fever had already set in. Good news now, the infections seem to be getting better, but I am pretty sure Reese has her second tooth coming in which is causing my Oh So Happy Baby to be a little cross and wants to be held by her mommy non-stop. Don't get me wrong, I love to snuggle with this little one, but sometimes I need my arms. On a lighter note, enjoy the pictures below....Reese's bout with pink eye documented, Ashton finally letting me take a picture of him (MIRACLE!) and being sweet to his sister, Ashton talking on the phone with Grandpa (he LOVES to call people now, I think he called Molly 4 times on Wednesday when he was home sick), and finally Reese sporting a bow without a headband...my baby girl is finally getting enough hair to put a clip in, that is, until she figures out how to grab it off her head and then it is over!

New Firsts

This week had two new "firsts" in our house. Reese official got her "first" real cold which was horrible. Runny nose, low grade fever, and horrible cough. She sounded so hoarse and pathetic. It just broke my heart. So I spent the evening of my 29th Birthday in the pediatricians office with both kiddos to make sure everyone was going to be okay. After an antibiotic for Ashton (ear infection) and both kids getting tested for oxygen levels and RSV we were sent home with the "it's a cold and she will have to wait it out." On the drive home I told Ashton we had to go get his medicine. When we got back to the house Casey asked him what he wanted for dinner, in a crying/whiny voice he said "I don't want dinner I need my medicine!" So I obliged and gave him his medicine...not 5 seconds after drinking it down he said "Oh, I feel much better now!" He is a little comedian! So after dealing with the first real cold for Reese, on Friday morning I discovered her first TOOTH! I am guessing this may have been part of the runny nose/fever and restless nights. She won't let me get a good picture but it is coming in, bottom left. Just one so far. I remember Ashton got both bottom teeth at 5 1/2 months old. After talking to Nan, she asked me who found the tooth and I told her I did. She then told me my Maw-Maw used to say, whoever finds the first tooth has to buy them an outfit...so I did just that....times 6! No worries, Ashton got a few new shirts too. Anyways, I leave you with just a couple new pictures of my two angels. By the way, I really do try to take more pictures of Ashton but he is in the phase where he says "cheese" when he sees the camera but then procedes to turn his head away as he is saying "cheese!" Someday maybe I will be able to keep his attention for more than ten seconds!

Seven Months

Seven Months! It never gets old, time just doesn't stand still no matter how much you want it to. Oh Reese, you are a joy and the sweetest little girl! Your Mommy, Daddy and Brother love you oh so much. Here are a few things to remember:

Sleeping: Still the queen of the catnaps and prefers to sleep for 15-30 min intervals, even though you surprised me twice this week and took a two hour nap...what gives???? Still go to be around 7:30 but like to get up around 1 am (I could do without this) but I have to admit I do love snuggling with you

Eating: Girl, you like your food! You are eating sweet potatoes, bananas, squash, peas, peaches, pears, apples, zucchini and a few Gerber puffs. You still are nursing really well and I don't see a reason to stop anytime soon....my plan is to keep going until you are a year. You take about 4 bottles a day and have stuck with 4 oz at each feedin, occassionally you will take a little more but now that you are eating solids 3 times a day, you really don't seem to need anymore.

On the move: You roll everwhere and are working on your yoga moves. Your "plank" is perfect and you look like you could do push ups so easily (I remember Ashton doing this at the exact same age but he didn't crawl until around 8.5 months) so we shall see when you take off. You do manage to get to another place if you want to by rolling a turning yourself around.

Play: You still love your exersaucers and we can now add your Jumper to the list. I put you in it each morning in my bedroom/bathroom while I get ready for work and you just jump until your heart is content (you did it this morning and then fell asleep in it...it was too cute) You are sitting up so well on your own now and can be surrounded by toys on the ground and you just play and play. You love it when Ashton "chases" you in your walkable exersaucer...he will sneak up on you and you just giggle and smile more and more.

Reese, as I said before you are loved so much. The love between you and your brother is amazing. He is so protective of you and adores you. He loves to sing songs to you and hold your hand and will ask to see you when you are sleeping. People ask me all the time if there is jealousy there, but we have never experienced it thus far, if anything, I think their bond just gets stronger and stronger each day. The only thing we have to watch is how much he does love you...sometimes his hugs are a bit strong, oh and there was the one day when he accidentally bit your toe, but meant no harm. Reese, Happy Seven Month Birthday! We love you!

Midland 2011...Generations of Love!

This past weekend we took our first trip of 2011 to Midland. This was our first trip there since Reese has been born and was a special one since she got to meet her two great grandmothers, Mema (who lives in Midland) and G.G., who drove up from San Angelo for the day. Both kids did great on the airplane...thank you Dora & Diego and the IPad for Ashton! We had such a great time and just hung out at the house all day Saturday and Sunday and enjoyed the great weather. Saturday we got to spend the day with both great grandma's and then Sunday, Mema came back over and Casey's brother, Chris and his girlfriend Amber, joined us as well. Ashton absolutely LOVES Midland and getting to run free all over the place. For him it is like his own personal petting zoo...he got to feed the fish, see the goats, talk to Iggy (an iguana), have four dogs to give him kisses and give Fred, a rather large cat, a few hugs...oh and he loved waking up and walking over to the bird cage and saying "Hey Bird!" Ashton also got to "climb" his first tree, thankfully my back was turned away for most of it and I let dad and Grandpa handle that...made me way too nervous, but he loved it. We all are looking forward to many more trips there. I am pretty sure everytime Casey and I get through with spending a weekend with his parents we both say at least once how we just wish they lived closer...I just love watching our kids with all of the grandparents, because I really don't know who has a better time...the kids, or the grandparents????

Holiday Catch Up

I have been behind on my blogging as this time of the year seems to fly by in a mad dash. It amazes me how much preparation goes into the holidays and then how quickly they pass by. This year was no exception. We had a wonderful Christmas celebrating with many family members. We were blessed to spend Christmas Eve and day with my family and then to have our extended New Orleans family come to Houston for a few days and then to end 2010 and ring in 2011 with my wonderful in-laws. Ashton was in heaven as everyday he seemed to have a new present to open. He really enjoyed Christmas this year and couldn't wait to see what Santa had brought. Reese of course just took it all in and would let out her squeals which she loves to do these days. Unfortunately we had to end the Christmas celebration with bringing her to the doctor to get her six month check up that came with 3 shots. Poor thing took them like a champ but wasn't the happiest of campers for the next few days. As promised I said I would post her stats so here they are:

Height: 26 inches (grew 2.5 in in 2 months!)
Weight: 15 lbs 7.5 oz (38%)
Head: 17 cm (70 % --must be smart!)

To go back to the holidays it was so nice to keep the kids home and give them a lot of quality time with family and to give the baby sitter a break. My mom, dad, sister, aunts, and cousins all helped watch them for two days and then Casey's parents had them for another two days. Ashton LOVED hanging out with everyone, especially my cousin Kayla and her precious baby Brayden who is six weeks younger than Reese. He is just adorable and such a great baby.

Like I said before this time of year just flies by so quickly and then the New Year comes and we say it again, where did the year go. It is always interesting to me to think back to where I was a year ago. I was watching a very active 2 1/2 year old keeping me on my toes and wondering if he was ever going to start talking more (no worries there now!), I was just passing my first trimester and finally starting to feel better (now I look at this precious baby girl and just smile) and last I was mourning the passing of my grandma who has been gone a year today. 2010 had many down moments I must say for my family, but the good moments by far outweigh the tough times. Reese Elizabeth's birth and watching Ashton grow seem to put everything in perspective and I look forward to everything 2011 has to bring.

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

And another month has gone by! Six months old...oh my sweet Reese, you are such a joy to have around. Here is a recap of a few things I want to remember:

-Love to eat...started eating sweet potatoes, peas, squash, and bananas so far and has yet to meet a food you didn't like
-Still taking only 4 oz at a time, 6-8 times a day
-Sleep: getting better, we finally moved you to your crib (long overdue I know) and you are adjusting...you will make it about 6-7 hrs before waking up VERY happy, which is good, but normally that is somewhere between 1-3 am...hoping you decide to go a little longer soon
-Has found your voice! You find it very fun to see how loud you can scream, not out of anger or being upset, just for fun, you like to hear yourself
-Smiles 24/7...still the only time you are fussy is when you are tired/hungry; however, we have discovered you are not a big fan of crowds...we attended two different parties this past month and you stuck your lip out as far as you could
-Starting to have some separation anxiety and is picking up on strangers....you are still great with grandparents, aunt/uncle, and babysitter, but other than that you don't like unfamiliar people to hold you
-Brother/Sister Bond: if you could have a BFF at this age then that would be Ashton, you still respond better to him than to anyone and if you hear his voice you will strain your neck to see where he is
-On the move! You are rolling all over, back to stomach, stomach to back and you love the exersaucer where you can walk around the activity table (reminds me of when Ashton used to drag the whole table across the house when he was in it)
-Sitting up, sorta....you can sit up for about 10 seconds before you fall over but I can tell you are getting stronger and stronger
-Laugh: You have such a hearty laugh that is contagious!

Reese, you are just a happy girl! Those big blue eyes pull everyone in immediately. I am thinking you are turning into a daddy's girl because lately you cry when he leaves the room and light up as soon as he enters it. We love you so much and you make each and everyday brighter!

(We go to the doctor on Monday for our six month check up, and shots :( so I will post stats later)

Girls Weekend

While the boys are away, the girls will play! Casey went hunting this weekend and took Ashton along so while he was out hunting Ashton could spend a long weekend in Midland with his grandparents. He has had a blast, too bad I have been missing him like crazy. This sweet face has been the saving grace for me.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and are looking forward to the Christmas season. I haven't been very good at taking pictures lately so I will leave you with Ashton preparing for "Movember 2011!"

Five Months

Five Months! And another month has flown by, seems like it is faster than the last one. Oh Reese, you really are a sweetheart. Here are a few things I want to remember:

-Eating: Started on Rice Cereal/Oatmeal twice a day...you LOVE your food. When you see the spoon you start kicking your legs and then grunt between bites. You get a bit angry when it is all gone. You still nurse around 2-3 times a day and are taking a combo of formula/pumped milk (4-5 bottles) a day, but on the weekends we try to do more nursing...still only taking about 4 oz with each bottle, tried upping it but you just spit up more so we will stick with what works

-Sleeping: You don't want to miss anything so the babysitter calls you the Queen of Catnaps! You normally take a good nap in the morning for around an hour or so, then dose on and off throughout the day (about 2-3 30 min naps). Time change has done a doozie on you at night but we have managed to push bedtime to around 7 PM and you still wake up somewhere around 2-3, nurse then go back down for a few more hours which is good. Rarely do you get fussy but when you are ready for bed, you better put you down because you are done!

-Playing: You like tummy time and playing with these soft toy blocks, toys that light up/make noise and a purple pillow of Mommy's. You LOVE Mickey Mouse and smile at Ashton's stuffed animal and then hug him. We have started letting you play in the exersaucer that you can walk around in and play with the different toys and you love it. I think your favorite "toy" is your own hands and feet. Many times you will just be staring at your hands and get so excited. When you eat you are holding one of two things, Mommy's hand (which I love) or your own foot. Oh baby girl, I hope you can always touch your toes with such ease!

-People: You really recognize everyone now and your own name. It is still very apparent that you idolize your brother, Ashton, and he does the same with you. I am not going to deny that I have used your charm to get him out of a bad mood because when he looks at you he can't help but smile and busts out with "Hey Reesy Peesy!" I LOVE how you and him interact with each other and pray it is always like this. He is already a very protective big brother and you are the apple of his eye!

-Other tidbits...you are in 3-6 month clothing, some 3 months still fit, size 1 diapers...getting ready to move to size 2, has lost a considerable amount of hair but still has some on top, and above all else you SMILE ALL THE TIME! When you wake up you stretch out and then when you see me, you grin from ear to ear. Our mornings together are my favorite time of the day and on the weekends when all four of us climb into Mommy and Daddy's bed I am in heaven! Oh Reese, we love you so much!

Movember

This year my husband donated his face to raise money for Men's Health. While "Movember" is technically the whole month of November, his team started on Oct 22....thank goodness considering our family pictures were today. The team raised over $16,000 which is very impressive for their first year. I wanted to make sure I documented the before and after of the "stache." I think Reese is going to miss playing with that funny thing on her daddy's face, oh well, there is always next year!

Long Overdue

I have been meaning to post this for a few weeks now. On Halloween night, when Ashton was collecting quite a stash of candy, Reese got to have her own treat...cereal! She absolutely LOVED it and has enjoyed it ever since. She grunts as soon as the spoon goes away from her mouth and gets angry when it is all gone, what can I say, the girl likes to eat! She has been eating it for about 2 weeks now, once a day the first week and now twice a day. I just let her try baby oatmeal as well. She seems to favor the rice cereal for now, but I have a feeling when we start with some veggies and fruit soon she will be in heaven!

So by no means was this Ashton's first haircut, but it was a way over due one. Ashton did great the first time I brought him to get his haircut but then it seemed to be a downhill experience. Luckily, Casey's mom has stepped in the past two years to keep his hair trimmed and we are very thankful for that. With family pictures coming up soon I wanted to get Ashton a "Big Boy" haircut so I brought him to my hairdresser Jenny to let her work her magic. Ashton was awesome and sat in the chair and let Jenny go to work. See for yourself her "magic!" I can't believe how big my little boy looks now!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! We had a great night with Mo, Mimi, Uncle Mark and Aunt Jac helping Ashton and Reese celebrate Halloween. Ashton was our very own UPS man (or the Oop-us Man) as he called himself, and Reese was a Lil' Pumpkin. Ashton was very excited about Halloween and even made his own box to go with his costume complete with stickers and even some UPS packing slips. This year was a lot of fun since it really was the first time Ashton seemed to understand what was going on. Last year he went to the doors but just stood there, this year he would say "trick or treat" then after receiving his candy he would say "thank you!" which made his Mommy SO PROUD! We practiced that and it seemed to work! Apparently at one house Ashton was so used to people giving him two pieces of candy and this man only gave him one, so Ashton proceded to reach into the bowl and help himself to his second piece; at least he said thank you right! We had a great night and were very thankful that our family good be with us.

Pumpkin Patch

With Daddy off hunting for the weekend, Mommy and Mimi packed up the kids and headed to a pumpkin patch. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time. Warning: Picture overload!

Four Months!

Another month has flown by once again and Reese continues to bring us so much happiness. This month was great getting to spend time with grandparents, aunts, uncles and even had a few more "firsts" for the baby book. Here are the updates:

Weight: 12 lbs 13 oz (33%)
Height: 23/5 in (22%)
Head: (40%)
Diapers: Size 1..about to move to the 1-2s
Clothes: Can still wear some 0-3 months but are gradually moving to 3-6 month

Eating: taking 5 bottles a day, split between breastmilk and formula, plus nursing in the morning and at night

Sleeping: You LOVE to sleep, but the only problem is you crash WAY TOO early, we are working on this...you fall asleep around 6:45-7ish then wake up around 2 am, then usually sleep for another 2-3 hrs. You take small "cat naps" at the babysitters as she says, you are afraid you will miss something (sounds like your brother) but despite your few naps you are rarely cranky and will smile at just about anyone.

Play: Really enjoy "tummy time" an will push up on your arms and look around. Like looking at books and enjoy having Ashton read to you. You enjoy your BUMBO seat so you can sit up and take everything in. You are also starting to put anything and everything in your mouth which is new to Mommy and Daddy since Ashton didn't really go through this phase. Of course you still have no interest in a pacifier, oh well!

New "Firsts": You have started to move! You will roll over from your stomach to your back and then will get back onto your side from your back but haven't quite figured out how to get back over to your stomach...I am sure you will figure it out soon. Unfortunately another first was your first fever. This came on your four month birthday (and you still have a slight one) but I am hopeful it is just a reaction to the shots you had to get. Once again it was three shots an one oral medication. You were laughing at the nurse when she was giving you the oral medicine but then quickly began screaming when the shots came out. You were a total rock star though and got back to your happy self within a minute of being in Mommy's arms. A final first for this month is your laughter! You have really started to find your voice and have started to laugh out loud quite a bit. It is enough to melt my heart as soon as you start laughing as well as when you are "talking." Every morning now you wake up your daddy with your lovely set of lungs...not at all screaming, just talking, and talking LOUD. Casey claims you get that from me, I can't really argue though.

Reese, you continue to be a ray of sunshine in all of our lives and we feel so blessed each and everyday we spend with you and Ashton. We love you and look forward to our next month and all the special moments to come!

Happy Anniversary

On Saturday Casey and I celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe that we have been married for six years already...time really oes fly when you are having fun. We have experienced a lot together over the years but by far the best experience we have had is parenting! There is no one else I would rather go through all of the ups and downs and share in the many moments of laughter, tears, and countless smiles than with Casey. I love you and can't wait for all of the years to come!

One, Two, Three Months Old

Why is it that as kids we can't wait to grow up and then we do and the reverse happens, we want time to stand still....especially when you have kids. I remember when Ashton was born I would constantly think, oh I love this age, just stay this size; and of course he would grow and time would pass and I would have the same thought again and again. Well nothing changes once their is a second baby except for me thinking that I need to cherish this time even more because God only knows if this second baby will be my last or not. With all of that being said all I can say is these last three months have been pure bliss!

Here are the latest updates/milestones:

-Reese, you smile ALL the time...you really are starting to recognize people when you see them and your face just lights up and you break out with a HUGE grin and those adorable dimples that I love form on your cute face. You do smile at strangers too but I can tell you recognize your brother, daddy and mommy and grandparents/aunts/uncles too!

-Size....no official weigh in but I can tell you have probably put a few pounds on since you are really filling out your 0-3 month outfits and can probably fit in a few 3-6 ones now...you are still in size 1 diapers

-Babysitter! Sadly Mommy went back to work on Sept 8 which means you started going to Ms. Aracelis' house with Ashton. This transition apparently has been much harder on me than on you because you have gotten nothing but rave reviews everyday

-Schedule: Since you have started going to the babysitter we really have a good schedule in place

wake up around 4 am to nurse with mommy, stays awake until car ride to sitters at 6 am, short nap, bottle at 7, morning nap, bottle at 9:30-10, plays (looks around at mobile, brother talks to her, tummy time), bottle 12, afternoon nap,bottle 3, mommy picks up at 4:30, nurses at 5:30, bath,nurse at 7:30,Bedtime 8....good nights you will go until 4 but you have been waking up around 1 or 2 a few nights lately

This has been working really well for the past three weeks and has made the transition easier.

-New Moves: Besides becoming a pro at blowing spit bubbles, you are enjoying sitting up on the couch, on the bed and in your bumbo seat. You have gotten so much stronger and don't "bobble" nearly as much

People always ask me how Ashton and Reese are and I can really say I have never been happier. I am so thankful that God has entrusted these two special souls to Casey and I. Ashton provides constant comic relief and really has a heart of gold and Reese is a ray of sunshine. I say this all the time, but Reese really is such a happy baby. As Ms. Aracelis told me, "she only cries when she is hungry or wants her diaper changed. She smiles all the time." As I said before I would love to stop time and keep both of them this size/age forever, but since I know that can't happen I will just keep enjoying each moment as they come!

All About Ashton

"Can you believe he said that?" "Can you believe he did that?" "Where did he learn that from?" These are just a few questions Casey and I find ourselves asking each other almost daily now with Ashton. It seems like our little boy has just blossomed and gone from a child who barely spoke to someone who can't stop talking (not sure where he got that from :). People constantly tell me to write things down so I don't forget this special time in our lives and so here is a list of a few "Ashton Moments" I will always want to remember about this time in his life:

1. On a trip to New Orleans this summer we introduced Ashton to beignets which he really seemed to enjoy. After he had eaten his plate clean he asked "Can I have some more band-aids?" Too cute!

2. Hide and Seek....This game is a new favorite in our house but Ashton's version is a bit different. When you tell him to hide he will hide but as we start counting "1, 2, 3..." you can hear him counting with you (giving away his hiding spot)...when he does hide as soon as he hears "ready or not" he runs out and screams "I here! I here!" If he decides he wants to find you he will also instruct you as to where you should hide.

3. Wrestling with Daddy...He LOVES to crawl on Casey and play, and Casey constantly will say jokingly "Get off me man!" Now as soon as Ashton crawls on Casey he will yell "Get off me man!"

4. Monkey See, Monkey Do...Ashton loves his sister and loves to hug and kiss her and talk to her. When I talk to Reese many times I will say "Hey girlfriend!" of "Hey pretty girl!" Lately this is how Ashton will greet Reese by saying both of these things.

5. Potty Training...Now this has been quite an experience. While we still struggle at times, Ashton has done pretty well with this, at least with going #1. Earlier this week I came home from work after picking up the kids and was trying to get everyone/everything out of the car and into the house. Ashton was still on the driveway fascinated with the people across the street. Our neighbors are trying to sell their house and they were having a showing. I was standing inside attending to Reese and still talking to Ashton. When I asked him what he was doing he didn't answer. I walked outside to see him standing there with his pants pulled down peeing on our driveway. I immediately said "Ashton you are supposed to pee in the toilet!" His response "I don't wanna pee in toilet. I wanna pee here!" Needless to say I don't think we will be getting new neighbors anytime soon as this was all done in front of them. I told Casey about this and he seemed proud to say "he is just a little redneck and at least he didn't go in his pants!" I guess their is a silver lining to everything.

Ashton has brought us nothing but joy over the last three plus years! He keeps us on our toes, makes us smile and laugh, and reminds of what is really important in life---love and family! We love you Ashton and can't wait for many more memories to come!

I have been meaning to do a post on this, well, since the day we came home from the hospital with Reese. As many of you know, Casey and I have opted not to find out if we were having a boy or girl with both pregnacies. When Ashton was born I went with a very neutral color scheme and had an ABC/animal room decorated with primary colors. When I found out I was pregnant with Reese I knew I wanted the colors to be bright green with black furniture and decided once the baby came I would either go all out with bright blue or pink. Well with a sweet baby girl joining our family, pink it was going to be. You may remember that Reese was born at 4:39 AM on June 23 and we both were released to go around noon on June 24. To my surprise when we got home I found her room decorated and just waiting for Ms. Reese to enjoy. My sweet mom, sister and friend, Deann had left the hospital the afternoon she was born and went on a mission to get everything to decorate the room. All they had to work with was a corner shelf, crib with the bedding (at least I did do that), a glider and a large dresser. All black furniture and that was about it. The three of them worked so hard to paint adorable letters that they hung with cute flower knobs, decorate a lamp, buy a rug, fill up frames and hang wall fixtures, find pillows to match and even a decorated bulletin board. I was floored by all of their hard work in such a short amount of time and so thankful for the gracious coming home present. I felt like I had been on an extreme home make-over show and was so lucky to reap the benefits. I had a few people ask me if I was disappointed that I personally didn't get to pick out the decor, etc....but for those who know me well, they know that I do not have creativity on that end...my small creative bone I prefer to use in decorating cookies! So after all of this I would once again like to say THANK YOU MOM, JACQUELINE & DEANN!!!

10 Years, 60 Years and 11 weeks

Random title I know, but this past week there were three big events, and of course I did not have my camera there (I know I am horrible). The first one to mention is 10 years....since I graduated high school! Man the time goes by fast. On Friday night Casey and I went to my reunion which was held at an Astros game (by the way, great idea Keri!). We had a great time getting to see some old friends and catch up. That same day there was another celebration of 60 years....that would be my Dad's Birthday! Since my parents were sweet enough to watch the kids on Friday, Dad's actual birthday, we celebrated Saturday night instead. But not to worry, Jacqueline and Mark were busy making this Birthday one my dad won't forget by decorating the front yard of their house with over 60 homemade signs and Christmas lights. The signs were hysterical, and even a few neighbors came out to admire their hard work. My mom and dad got a good kick out of it when they got home late Friday night to see the nice decorations. I hope Dad had a great Birthday because we all love him dearly! He is one of the best men in my life and the one I admire the most. I love you dad/Mo! The last big event of 11 weeks would be how old Reese turned on Wednesday which also happened to mark the day I returned to work....let the waterworks begin! Obviously I survived my separation but needless to say I cried a lot on Tuesday when I went to drop off supplies to our babysitter and she had to console me for about 30 minutes while I was trying to go over Reese's schedule. Thankfully Ashton was right there saying "It's okay Mommy, it's okay" as he patted my back. By the time 4 PM hit on Wednesday afternoon I was beyond excited to leave work and go get both my babies. They both had an excellent day and I know each day will get better and I just have to remind myself how fortunate we are to have such a great babysitter who loves my kids as if they were her own. So even though I didn't have my camera with me, I will still leave you with a few new pictures.

Two Months!

Two months old already? Wow! I know everyone says that time just seems to fly by, and I really think once you have children that expression comes to light even more! This past month has been just as wonderful as the first. Here are a few things I will want to remember about our precious Reese Elizabeth:

Stats:
Height: 22 inches (35%)
Weight: 9 lbs 4 oz (13%)

Fun fact...Ashton was 9 lbs 6 oz at this age so they are right on track with each other as of now.

Some "firsts"
-spit bubbles....you started blowing these around 6 weeks old and have only progressed in how often and how many of them you make
-sleep: take about two naps on average during the day for about 45 min to an hour and a half; go to bed around 8-8:30 and sleep for about 4 1/2 hrs then eat, go back down for another 3-4 hrs and sometimes go back down for an extra hour cat nap (this last hour is when you usually snuggle with mommy, which I love!)
-eating: around 9 times a day, just last week I introduced you to a little bit of formula...you are a great nurser but since I will be going back to work soon I am going to need to supplement some since I probably wont be able to pump as much as you would need...at each feeding you are taking about 3-4 oz
-Cooing....you have really started to babble and coo and a slight giggle can be heard occassionally
-Smiling! You smile for Ashton more than anyone else....and yes, he still loves and adores you and likes to say "Hey Reesy Peesy Peesy!" and wants to give you kisses...occassionally he will even ask to hold you
-You LOVE your mobile in your bed...you will stare at it for up to 30 minutes which is so great for Mom and Dad!
-Clothes...you are still in newborn diapers but when I am running short size 1 will due even though newborns still fit the best, but you are out of newborn clothes and into 0-3 months which I want you to stay in forever!
-Love the heat! If you are fussy you still love to go outside and let the sun beat down on you and warm you right up (just like Ashton did!)
-You went swimming for the first time and loved it so much, probably because you love to take a bath and that felt like a big bath to you...nice and warm

That is it for now. Reese you are such a joy and blessing in our lives and we feel so blessed to be your parents. We can't wait to watch you grow more, just not too fast!

I Scream, You Scream...

...We all scream for ICE CREAM! Today was a great day! Reese turned six weeks old which just goes to show how fast time really does fly, but we also got to venture out to Brenham, Texas which is home of the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory. I remember going Blue Bell a few times as a child and I want Ashton and Reese to also have those memories. My mom and I packed up the kids and drove out there this morning and went on the tour. Reese was awesome, and slept the whole drive out, along with the entire tour and didn't wake up until she was hungry which was about 10 minutes after the tour had ended. If you have ever been to the Blue Bell Factory then you will be happy to know the tour hasn't changed. They still start it with a five minute movie and then you get to see the factory. Ashton loved the tour and seeing the machines work and the pictures of cows on the walls. He was not very happy about the movie which makes me think it will still be a while before he is ready to go to an hour and a half show, but he loved the room which showed all of the frozen treats and flavors that Blue Bell makes. He just kept saying "I want ice cream. I want ice cream." We ended the tour with the high-light of his day, a large portion of vanilla ice cream (he isn't one for trying new things) at 10 AM...nice way to start the day I would say. For the rest of the day I got to hang out with both of my kids and really enjoyed it but was happy to see their daddy walk in a little after five. Hopefully this will be just one of a few great childhood memories to come! (One other note...Ashton was fascinated by the bronze statue of this little girl and thought she really needed a hug, so sweet!)

One Month Birthday and Baptism

On Friday, July 23 Reese turned one month old! It is hard to believe how this past month has flown by. It was a big day for the whole family not just because she was a month old, but because we took our first out of state trip, and a road trip at that. We packed up and drove to New Orleans to visit our "Cajun" family and to baptize Reese Elizabeth. My parents, Mo and Mimi, made the drive as well and actually took Ashton with them to help entertain him. Both kiddos were rockstars and traveled so well for the six hour drive...it probably helped that we left at 3:30 in the morning both coming and going to ensure they would sleep some and it worked! Casey's parents, Mark and Jacqueline (Reese's Godparents) and Diane also flew to New Orleans for the celebration.
It was a wonderful weekend spent in good company and with some really good food. Friday we hung out with my Aunts, Uncle and cousin, then on Saturday we took Ashton to the Aquarium which was awesome. That afternoon we had a private baptism which was so nice. On Sunday we had a "small" celebration...I say small because it was only family. But anyone who knows our family will know when it comes to first, second and third cousins we had close to 50 people at my Aunts house. It was such a nice family reunion and even better that we were able to gather to celebrate something so wonderful since the last time we were all together it was under tough circumstances, the passing of my grandma.
One of the most touching moments was when my aunt, Nannie Marge (my Godmother) presented me with a quilt she had sewn. It has always been a tradition that Maw-Maw gave each grandchild, and even some great nieces and nephews, quilts that she would sew. As a child I received a quilt with the alphabet on it and when Ashton was born she did a similiar one for him. At Christmas I had picked out the one I wanted for Reese and gave it to her. Maw-Maw was able to separate the threads befor she passed but never got to stitch any of it. Nannie Marge stepped in and made it a labor of love. She spent countless hours working on the quilt so that it would be done in time for Reese's baptism and she of course lived up to the challenge. She wrote Reese a beautiful letter explaining the story behind the quilt and letting her know how Maw-Maw touched each and every thread that is now on that blanket. I don't have a picture right now but will be sure to get on soon because it is so beautiful. All I can say is THANK YOU NANNIE MARGE!!!
To conclude this rather long post there are a few things about Reese's first month I want to remember:

*At 19 days old you were back to your birth weight of 6 lbs 13.7 oz and had grown 1 inch to 20 inches total.
*You love to SLEEP, especially at night :)...normally you sleep for 3-4 hrs then wake up, eat, sleep for 2-3, eat, and sleep for 2-3 more...you are awesome!
*July 22, one day shy of your one month birthday you smiled for the first time
*You are so alert and looking around
*Rarely do you cry, only when you are hungry or just want to be held
*Love outside---the heat is a cure all, if you do get fussy you stop when we go outside
*Nursing around 10 times a day
*Your brother LOVES you....constantly wants to kiss you, has asked occassionally to hold you and loves to come over and say "Hey Reese!" or "Hey Peesee" (its really cute)

Lake Trip

This weekend we had two firsts...Reese had her first weekend at the lake just two and a half weeks old. My parents drove Ashton up in their car and Casey and I took Reese and our dog. She was a perfect angel going and coming home. Only once in the two and a half hour drive did she even let out a peep and it was just because she was hungry. I guess Reese had two first because she also had a bottle for the first time as well and took it like a champ. That is the one draw back to nursing, I can't just mix a bottle but instead had to do a little pre-planning and had some pumped milk all ready. We met Casey's parents at the lake and it was Grandpa's first time to meet Reese. I think to say he was little smitten was an understatement. It was a great weekend with both kiddos and both sets of grandparents....until Saturday night. Around 8:30 Ashton started crying saying "My ear hurts! My ear hurts!" and was completely inconsolable. I hadn't heard this kind of cry before, nor has he ever said that. So Casey and both my mom and Casey's mom loaded Ashton up to bring him to the ER in Groesbeck. It killed me to send him off but I couldn't leave Reese either. Casey said the doctor was very nice and poor Ashton has a double ear infection. So after a dosage of antibiotics they were sent on their way home. We had planned on staying at the lake a bit longer today but had to cut it short to get home to get Ashton's perscription filled. He seems to be feeling a little better already. Despite the ER visit we had a fantastic weekend full of good times with our wonderful family!

It is so hard to believe my little boy is 3 today! Ashton, you have been the best part of our lives for the last three years and your daddy and I are constantly entertained by you. You are such a little helper to everyone. You help daddy mow the lawn each weekend, you always want to help mommy make "tookies" (you have a little trouble with the letter C) and now you are always there to help with your little sister. You keep us in stitches with your new word choices and we keep asking where you learn some of the things you say. It is hard to believe that I was worried about your speech development, but just like everything else you do, you did it at your own pace and you are right on track. Ashton we adore you and can't wait to watch you grow even more. I am in awe that three years have really already passed us by, but I can say with certainty they have been the best three years of our lives. We love you and Happy Birthday!

It's hard to believe that tomorrow was the date that had been ingrained in my head for the last 9 months as my due date, July 5th...how quickly June 23rd has replaced that day with one I will never forget. It has now been over a week and a half since our family of three expanded to a family of four. I was sitting outside by the pool today watching Casey and Ashton swim while Reese lay in her bouncer snoozing away in the shade...I kept thinking, wow, it doesn't get any better than this. Two healthy and amazing children and a husband I adore! This will be a 4th of July to remember! (PS...I tried to get Ashton to look at the camera for me but he refused, Reese on the other hand is a little young to object so I will leave you with a few pictures of my "Lil' Firecracker") Happy 4th of July!

"We have a little girl!" Those were the sweet words Casey said to me just minutes after Reese Elizabeth Lee was born at 4:39 AM on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. I am still in shock at the idea of having a daughter, let alone knowing this isn't an idea, but a reality. I once again was blessed with a fast labor to say the least....I woke up with contractions at 1 am and timed the first one to be 20 minutes apart and that quickly changed to 12 then to 8 and by the time we got to the hospital at 2:30 AM they were 5 minutes apart. I will spare the rest of the details but I did get an epidural but it was not early enough to go into effect. After all of the pain the result was beyond worth it! I will post pictures soon of our newest addition.
Ashton came to visit yesterday and just kept asking to hold his sister and wanted to touch her feet and kiss her face. He kept pointing to her "stump" of the umbilical cord and said "she got boo-boo." He already seems just as smitten as Casey and I are.
I am so thankful that God has entrusted not one, but now two of His most precious creations to Casey and I. Even when I left the house yesterday morning I walked in Ashton's room and give him a kiss on his forehead before we left and said a quick prayer asking God to help me. Even up until the very last moment I was questioning how I would ever be able to love anyone else as much as I love Ashton, but of course God showed me instantly when the doctor put Reese in my arms.
As I said before I will try and get pictures posted soon but for now we are going to keep enjoying our almost 3 year old son and all 6 lbs 13.7 oz of our beautiful daughter!

Just a little bit longer...

So I went to the dr. yesterday and he did his usual exam then looked at me and said. "Is there anyway you can please just do NOTHING between now and Sunday night?" I said, yes and why....his response "well you seem to be progressing a bit faster than I expected and I will be out of town until Sunday night." So, with that being said I am working from home today and keeping my feet up and trying to stay as still as possible as to not do anything to send myself into labor. The doctor said the baby would be fine if he/she decided to make their debut this weekend, but I am really trying my best not to let that happen until my own doctor is back in town and can be the one to help welcome him. (Yes, I still think it is a boy...but I guess sooner rather than later I will know for sure.) I am planning on being back at work on Monday and just going to say some prayers that this is an uneventful weekend. Regardless of what happens, I can't wait to meet this little one! For now I will leave you with some pictures taken by our friend Becky who is so talented! These are Ashton's three year old pictures even though he looks so much older to me! Thanks again Becky!

This weekend we celebrated Ashton's 3rd Birthday by having a party for his friends a few weeks before his real b-day since we are also preparing for the arrival of Baby Lee. We had the party at Pump-It-Up which was awesome. We had about 15 kids who seemed to have a blast and I thnk deep down there were some parents who really enjoyed all the inflatable fun just as much. You are never too old to play! Ashton had a blast and I would call the party a total success. I feel like I could do a commercial for Pump It Up....that place was so clean, organized and easy! All we had to do was show up with a cake and ice cream and they did the rest. I was so glad we could give Ashton such a fun day with so many of his friends. Below are a few pictures from the party. Showered with Love

We had a wonderful afternoon spent with great friends. Patrick, Christi, Philip, Katie, Ryan and Keri were sweet enough to host a "Diapers, Dips and Drinks" Shower for Baby Lee. We left with LOTS of diapers and had a great time hanging out with good friends. Everything was coordinated with black and green the colors of the nursery. The food and drinks were all so yummy! We are so thankful for our sweet friends. This baby is already so loved and Casey and I feel so blessed that God has given us the gift of parenthood with Ashton and "Baby Lee." We are counting down the days until (s)he arrives and our family of three becomes four!

Wedding Weekend

This weekend I was honored to be a part of one of my closest friend's weddings. Amanda was one of my college roommates and we were friends practically from the first day at Texas A&M. Amanda and David got married on Saturday night in Dallas. Casey and I had a blast getting to see a few of my closest college friends and taking part in all of the festivities. The weekend began on Thursday night at a BBQ for Amanda and David's families and the wedding party hosted by our 41st and 43rd President's and their wives. Unfortunately Laura was gone on her book tour on Thursday night but made it back in time for the wedding on Saturday. Friday Amanda's sister and aunt hosted a lovely luncheon at Neiman Marcus' Zodiac Room and then David's family had a wonderful rehersal dinner at the Petroleum Club on Friday night. Finally the wedding came on Saturday night at the Arboretum which is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I wish Amanda and David all the best and want to thank them again for allowing me to be a part of their special day!

This weekend I had two orders that I worked on so I finally took some pictures. When I wasn't baking/icing we were enjoying running through the sprinkler and enjoying this gorgeous weather!
