Four Months

A third of a year has passed by?  I know I shouldn't be surprised that this month has come and gone already but it still amazes me.  Elijah Hayes, you are nothing but a gift and a blessing so here we go for our four month update...

Nicknames: Eli, Peanut and Booga Bear seems to have stuck

Likes: Mommy, Daddy, Ashton, Reese, bathtime, being outside, your activity mat, baby bjorn facing out to see the world, sitting on Mommy's lap and leaning up against her thighs to a "sitting up" position, eating, being held and cuddled nap nanny to snooze or to look around in, your changing table to look out the window

Dislikes: carseat for extended time periods, being in a room alone...you prefer to have people around, having your hands confined...we have stopped swaddling you all the way, your hands are out but we have to keep your legs snug as a bug or you will flail yourself to the point you wake yourself up; while you love being held, you do not like to be put over my shoulder because then you can't see everything...always facing forward seems to be the preference

Milestones: You are holding your head up...I feel like you were a little late on this and still have a bit of a bob but your strength has gotten so much better.  Laughing!  You have a hearty laugh and you are ticklish under your neck which cracks me up...you start with a squeal of delight and then a good chuckle follows.

Feeding: You are now half and half.  We introduced you to formula this month and you have done very well with it.  You usually get 3 bottles of breastmilk and 2 of formula a day and then I feed you in the morning, afternoon and before bed.  You tend to eat about 8- 9 times a day with one feeding around 3 am, 5 am, then five bottles between 6-4:30 when I pick you up, 5 PM we nurse and then around 7 PM to finish the day. You are taking about 5 oz at each feeding.

Sleeping:  This is still a work in progress.  You are still going to bed around 7PM and some nights you will sleep until 3 or 4 which is AMAZING...we even got a 5:45 wake up call one morning which was unbelievable...this week you have been a bit off with a wake up at midnight one night, two am another and then 3 another.  I am not going to lie, I am a bit worried about this time change that is coming up this weekend.

Behavior: You are a such a happy child.  You have found your voice and it seems to grow louder each day.  When you are tired you let us know, and when you are hungry you want it right then, no messing around!  You are a kicker too....your legs go 90 to nothing at all times like you are ready to run (I am not ready for that yet!)

Clothes/Diapers: You are in size 1 Pampers diapers but as soon as this box is done we are going to move to size 2.  We go for your check up (and shots tomorrow) but I am guessing you will be around 13 lbs or so

"Firsts": You started blowing spit bubbles, and DROOLING!!!  We must have a bib on you at all times that is for sure.  You had your first halloween complete with a skeleton onesie and a bed time which was interrupted by trick or treaters, it happens!

Looking Forward to: Pulling out some new toys...think the exersaucer is in our near future!  Continuing to sleep longer stretches

Eli you are a God-send.  I can't tell you how much your daddy and I adore you more and more each day!  You wake up smiling and cooing and I am amazed how when you close your eyes and then wake up you are even cuter than you were the day before.
